Abstract:

We discuss some optimization problems in quantum information science such as finding the nearest incoherent state for a given state, finding a global state with prescribed marginal states with the minimum rank, or minimum von Neumann entorpy, etc. Recent results and open problems will be mentioned. (No quantum mechanics background is assumed.)
