MA421 Using LaTeX for HW: Fall 18

LaTeX is a way to typeset mathematics and any science that uses a lot of equations and/or symbols. There are many different products that allow one to do this; some are free, others are not. A Mac user can obtain TeXShop for free. Windows users can obtain MiKTeX for free.

Another way is to use Overleaf which was formerly WriteLaTeX and has now joined with ShareLaTeX and use LaTeX through a browser. Upside to Overleaf is that you can easily collaborate on documents (if appropriate, of course) AND there's nothing to install. Downside is you have to be online to use it.

TO TURN IN HOMEWORK IN LATEX. There are two ways. You are more than welcome to print your resulting PDF and turn it in on paper, but there's no need. If there are sketches or problems that you did not type up, just indicate so on both the resulting PDF and the turned in paper. Thus if I am looking at either one, I know to also look elsewhere for the complete homework set.

  1. Use the share feature within Overleaf. Click on the "Share" button at the top of your "project". You can either turn on link sharing (by clicking on the link), copy and past the URL (the read and edit version is preferable) OR you can enter my email withing the same pop-up window for Overleaf to send me the URL to your work. The email to me should be sent by the due date and time.
  2. Download the PDF of the typed up homework and email it to me by the due date and time.
